On October 12,2013 we held a birthday party for Andrew who was turning 5 years old. We conducted a station tour, friendly firefighter program, engine tour , spraying the hose and sparky made an appearance. We would like to thank Andrews family for contacting us for the birthday party.

On Wednesday October 9,2013 the Arnold Volunteer Fire Department held its first friends and family CPR class. We had four students and we had four instructors on hand. We will be offering more classes for CPR throughout the year. The schedule can be found on our CPR page. The Arnold Volunteer Fire Department Inc is now offering CPR classes. The current classes will be held at the firehouse located at 1505 Ritchie Hwy Arnold, MD 21012. On Tuesday september 10,2013 at 1:05pm hrs fire alarm dispatched the commercial box 38-24 for a reported building fire located around 155 main st in downtown annapolis. Units arrived and confirmed a working fire inside the building, BC-35 arrived and requested an all hands box then a second alarm. E171 assisted E381 with fire attack, the fire was quickly brought under control. E171 opertaed on scene for about an hour before being released by command.

On Friday August 30,2013 at 3:06 am fire alarm started receiving 9-1-1 calls for a reported building fire located at the taco bell at 578 Ritchie Hwy. First arriving units found a 1 story commercial building with fire showing from the side of the building. The fire was quickly extinguished and the Health dept was requested by command.E-171 : A-Shift

The Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association and the Arnold Volunteer Fire Department regretfully announce the passing of George William “Bill” Schriefer, Jr. August 28, 2013.Bill became a member of the Arnold VFD in 1959 served over 51st year as an Active Member of our organization, He was a Life Member. During the five decades with Arnold he has served several times as President and Vice President of the department and served on the Board of Directors in various offices for over 40 years. Bill served as the company president from 1973-1975, 1978-1979 and 1984-1988. Bill was an active firefighter for over 30 years before finally retiring the gear around 1989. He served on the Ways and Means committee and previously chaired the Building and Grounds committee. In addition, he has served on a variety of other committees including the department's Annual Awards committee, he helped to organize countless events including Oyster Roasts and Saturday Night parties at the firehouse.Bill represented Arnold VFD at 41 consecutive conventions of the Maryland State Firemen's Association as a Delegate. In addition, he represented Arnold over the years at many events and meetings of the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association. The company decided to replace our MSA thermal imager for engine 172. After receiving five bids we selected the X380 from ISG. The camera was ordered and will be here within 60 days and we will start training immediately. We purchased the camera through Fire Chasers.

On sunday July.21,2013 at 7:47am fire alarm struck the 19-3 box for a reported dwelling fire located on river bay rd in Co.19's first due. E-191 arrived on location with heavy fire from side A, requested the all hands box assignment . E-172 & PM-17 arrived and Lt.17 was assigned the basement division. E-172 & PM-17 operated for a little over 3 hours before returning available. Thanks to Church Hill from Queen Anne's County for filling in our station.

On Wednesday morning June.25,2013 fire alarm struck the 17-18 box for a reported dwelling fire located on providence rd. E-471 arrived to find an atatched garage with heavy fire showing. E-381 arrived and assumed command, crews conducted a search of the dwelling with negative results. E-171 & PM-17 operated over 2 hours on the call before returning to service.
