172 RUNS TWO CALLS WHILE TRANSFERED

On Sunday Sept.30,2007 at 7:45pm fire alerted for a transfer crew. E-172 transferred to Co.4 with a crew of 3. We arrived at station 4 and was alerted for a lock-in in Co.4's first due area. We arrived and found a 2 yo locked inside a town home. We put a roof ladder to the 2nd story window and gained entrance thru it. We cleared and returned to co.4 . Once again we were back out the door for an odor of gas inside a tonwhome. E-172 arrived on location of a 3 sty town home with nothing evident , Capt.17 had the command. Crews found nothing , Command held engine 172 and released the rest. E-172 awaited BGE's arrival. AVFD COVERS STATIONS 28 & 26

On September 13, 2007 at 7:15pm E-172 was alerted to transfer to Company.28 while units operated at a building fire on Canine Rd on NSA property. Tower-11 was also transferred to Company 28 We ran no calls and returned back to station 17 at 9:45pm.

At 10:15pm E-172 was again alerted to transfer to Company.26 while units from the 1st battalion worked on a building fire in Co.26's first due. Tower-11 also transferred to Company 26 with us. We ran one medical call out of station 26 and returned back to station 17 at 12:15am

AVFD COVERS QUEEN ANNE STATION 1

On September 11th, 2007 @ 12:10am Fire alarm paged us to fill our quarters. E-172 transferred to Queen Anne County Station 1 (Kent Island) along with QNT-23 for a stand-by. Queen Anne County Companies 1,2,3,4,9 were working on a house fire in the Grasonville Area. E-172 was transferred for an hour and ran no calls. E-172 returned back to company 17 at 1:50am.

CREWS HANDLE MULTIPLE TRANSERS

On Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007 @ 10:20 pm E-172 was alerted for a transfer to co.34 . Co.34 was operating along with other batt-1 units on a pile of debris fire in 34's area. E-172 transferred to co.34 for 2 hours before returning home.

On Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007 @ 12:58am fire alarm alerted station 17 for a transfer crew. E-172 transferred to Queen Anne County Station 2 (Grasonville VFD) . Queen Anne county stations 1,2,3,9 were working a house fire in Co.1(Kent Island) first due. We ran no calls while transferred at co.2(Grasonville). We returned to station 17 @ 2:30AM

On Sunday, Sept 2, 2007 @ 3:36am we were alerted again to transfer to Queen Anne County. E-172 transferred to co.1 (Kent Island) . Stations 2,3,1 were working a house fire in station 2(Grasonville) first due. We ran no calls while transferred at co.1(Kent Island) and returned to station 17 at 4:20am.

On Sunday August 26,2007 @ 9:30am E-172 was alerted to transfer to Co.42 while they operated on a haz-mat local box. While transferring E-172 was picked up on an MVC on I-97 near Rt.50. On Sunday August 26.2007 @ 3:40pm fire alarm advised E-172 to transfer to Co.30 . Stations 12,10,30, & 13 were operating on a dwelling fire in 12's first due. E-172 ran 1 commercial box at BWMC for alarm bells. E-172 was released from Station 30 @ 7:40pm

STORMS HIT ARNOLD'S FIRST DUE AREA

On Saturday, 8/25/07, Arnold was hit by severe thunderstorms with strong winds.  Between 9 pm and 3 am the volunteers on Engine 172 and Brush 17 ran 5 storm related calls in Arnold, 3 for automatic fire alarm investigations and two for wires down, one in Pendennis and one on Forest Beach Road.  The Forest Beech wires were live and actively burning, so the road was closed to await assistance from BG&E in securing the power.  In addition, the career crew on Engine 171 ran 6 calls, also mainly wires down and fire alarms sounding, plus an automobile accident involving a county police officer at Rt. 2 and Arnold road (as recently reported in The Capital).

172 COVERS CALVERT STATION 1

On Monday August.13,2007 @ 6:30 pm fire alarm paged out for any company with a transfer crew to contact them. E-172 was assigned to transfer to co.41 due to E-422, E-411, E-91, PM-9, BC-3 going to Calvert County for a dwelling fire in North Beach 's First Due. While transferring to C o.41 fire alarm advised us to change our assignment to Calvert Co.Station-1. We arrived at Calvert Station 1 and w ere released at 10:30pm . We ran no calls out of Calvert Station 1. We would like to thank the North Beach VFD Ladies Aux for their hospitality while transferred there. We arrived back at our station @ 11:30pm

172 TRANSFERS TO ST 9, 1 & 27

On Sunday August 12, 2007 @ 3:50pm E-172 was alerted to transfer to Co.9 (Co. 9 was working a Calvert County dwelling fire ) . At 4:50pm we were released from station 9 and transferred to C o.1 due to E-12 being transferred to C alvert Station 5. At 6:30pm we were released from station 1 and headed back to station 17. While in 40's first due we were added to the 40-28 box for a building fire at the Best W estern on Riva Rd. E-35 arrived with nothing evident with E-32 taking command. Command held E-35 & E-32 and placed the re mainder of the box in service. While returning from th e 40-28 box a dwelling fire was reported in 27's area . B-27 arrived at the dwelling with heavy smoke showing and fire thru the roof. Fire alarm advsied us to transfer to Co.27 where we ran 1 medical call a t 10:30 . W e were released from Co.27 and returned to quarters.

172 CREW HANDLES TWO TRANSFERS & BRUSH FIRE

On Sunday August.5,2007 @ 5:39am a box was struck in Co.10's first due for a dwelling fire with numerous calls. E-101 arrived and found a dwelling with heavy fire from side C. At. 6:06am E-172 was transferred to Co.10. After arriving at 6:24am, we were dispatched for a brush fire located at Abbeyy Ct & Leeds Dr in the 10-7 box. We arrived on location and found a 8 x 8 ft area about 50 feet from the parking in the woods on fire. E-172's Crew pulled an 1 3/4 preconnect and extingushed the fire. We cleared the scene at 7am and returned to Co.10 . We were released from Co.10 at 8:15am and returned back to Co.17.

On Sunday Aug.5.2007 @ 7:15pm the 35-14 box was struck for a dwelling fire with numerous calls. E-402 arrived with a middle of the row townhome with smoke showing. E-172 was transferred to Co.40 While at Co.40 we ran a medical call in the 40-16 box. We returned back to Company 17 after 9:30pm.

E-172 HANDLES TRANSFER & BRUSH FIRE

On July.24,2007 @ 9:15pm E-172 was transferred to company 30 while they battled a brush fire behind BJ's on Ritchie Hwy. At 10:22pm E-172 from Co.30 & E-342 from Co.18 were dispatched for a brush fire on Huff Ct in Freetown.  E-172 & E-342 arrived to fire a brush fire behind the building extending past the fence line into the woods. E-172 pulled a 1 3/4 preconnect and directed E-342 to go to the next court to access the fire better. Lt.Hopkins had the freetown Command. CMD requested a brush truck which brought B-12. Both E-172 & E-342 crew cut the fence and extingushed the fire. Command Continued B-12 non-emergency then released them. Both E-172 & E-342 operated for about 45 mins , command placed the situation under control and released units.

BARN FIRE KEEPS FIRE CREWS BUSY

On July.23,2007 @ 11:04 box 19-9 was struck for the barn fire. Enroute fire alarm advised they had multiple calls and BC-2 requested 2 additional tankers bringing Tanker-3 and Queen Anne County Tanker-1. E-191 arrived with a 100 x 100 barn fully involved. At 12:20am CMD placed the fire under control.  While E-172 was in service at station 17 we also covered stations 19, 23 and the Naval station 2. ENGINE 172 CREW COVERS TWO TRANSFERS

On July.22, 2007 E-172 was scheduled to transfer to Company 9 while they attended a rual water supply drill. At 6:55 AM Box 17-3 was struck for the dwelling fire. E-171 arrived with light smoke showing. We filled our station until 8:00 AM then transferred to Co.9 where we ran a medical call for a cardiac arrest and were released at 3 PM .

After being released from Co.9 fire alarm transferred us to  Co.18 while they operated on a 2nd alarm building fire in Co.31's first due. We ran no calls out of Co.18 and returned home at 5:30 PM

ENGINE 172 RESPONDS ON 2nd ALARM IN THE 12-26 BOX & 38-23 BOX

On July15,2007 @ 9am the 12-26 box was struck for a dwelling fire located on St.Ives Dr @ Benefield Blvd. E -122 arrived on scene with a 2-story SFD with fire showing. At 9:15am E-172 was transferring to STA.26. At 9:23am Command struck the 2nd alarm bringing us and other units from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd battalion. E-172 arrived and was advised to pull an 1 3/4 line to side C and assist with fire attack/overhaul on the second floor. E-172 operated for 2.5 hrs on location. Enroute back to station, E-172 responded to a reported motorcycle accident and cleared shortly thereafter.

On July.15,2007 @ 6:18pm the 38-23 box was struck for an apartment building on fire. E-38 arrived to find a 2-sty rowhome fully involved. BC-35 arrived and established the command. Command then requested 2 additional engines bringing E-36 & E-402. E-172 was transferring to Company 38 when E-172 & E-171 were called to the box. E-172 arrived and stood by E-402's hydrant while E-171 arrived and went to the command post. E-171 was released @ 7:07pm and E-172 was released @ 7:42pm. E-171 transferred to Company 46 after being released. When E-172 was released from the scene, E-172 released E-171 from Co.46. E-172 returned to station 17 after an hour.

MULTIPLE FIRES KEEP 172 BUSY WITH TRANSFERS

 

On Sunday July.1,2007 the County had multiple fires working. Stations 20 , 30 & 40 had working incidents in their areas. E-172 was transferred to station 40 for about an hour . After being released from station 40 we returned to station 17.

On Monday July.2,2007 @ 22:00 hrs E-172 was transferred to company 23 while they worked on a haz-mat incident in 26's area . E-172 remained at station 23 for an 1.5 hrs , we returned to station 17. E-172 Crew : FADO - Lt.Randy Hopkins OIC - FF Ehrlich

 

Engine 172 transfers to station 5 and responds to assist on 5-23 box.

On June 24th @ 22:30 hrs box 5-23 was struck for the dwelling fire. E-283 arrived to find a 2 story SFD with fire showing. E-172 was transferred to company 5. Soon after arriving at station 5 , we were alerted to respond to the scene to assist. E-172 arrived ans was assigned RIT , then was directed into the structure to the 2nd floor to extinush hot spots. We returned to service around 1:30am. During this fire , 2 FF's were transported to local hospitals for minor injuires.

ENGINE 172 HANDLES COUNTY TRANSFERS

On May 11,2007 @ 21:30 hrs Fire alarm was requesting transfers due to a fire in company 10's area. E-172 went on the air transfering to company-12 then got moved to company-30. We remained there until 23:30 hrs when we returned home.

ENGINE 172 RESPONDS TO TWO BOX ALARMS

At 9:37pm E-171 , E-172 & PM-17 were alerted to respond to a 40 box for smoke in a building on Reserach Dr. E-402 arrived with nothing evident then upgraded it to smoke in the building. Units staged until 10:27 until they found the source to be a electrical box inside the building. Command held E-402 , Tw-40 and E-31 and released the rest.

During this incident E-35 was dispatched to an unknown fire in the 35-40 box on old solomons island rd. E-35 arrived with fire in the Business. E-35 requested to fill the box. At 10:28pm CMD requested a second alarm , due to units leaving the 40 box , E-171 & E-172 were added to the second alarm. E-172 arrived and had staging. E-172 cleared at 11:02pm

ENGINE 172 RESPONDS TO 21-7 BOX

At 10:20pm on 4-11-07 E-172 was transferred to company 21 due to co.21 being on a vacant dwelling fire on race rd. Moments after backing into co.21 E-172 was dispatched to the 21-7 box for a dwelling fire on ridge rd. E-172 & TW.43 arrived to find a vacant dwelling fire 100 % involved. E-172 supplied TW.43 with water for ladder ops. Units cleared around 1:20 am. E-172 returned to co.17

** During the second 21 box , co.29 had a vacant dwelling fire on montevideo Rd ** They were a total of 4 vacant dwelling fires this night in and around co.21 area ..

ENGINE 172 RESPONDS TO 23-16 BOX

12/30 & 12/31/2006 - Station 17 and surrounding stations responded twice to a residential dwelling fire over the course of two days.

12/30/2006 - First fire was before noon and was contained to the kitchen area.
Unit's responding: E.171, E.172, QNT.23, QNT.30, TK.40, SQ.23, PM.17, BC.2 & Fire Marshall.

12/31/2006 - 2nd fire was lastnite around 9:30pm , Sq-23 arrived with fire thru the roof.
Unit's responding: QNT.23, E.171, E.192, QNT.30, TK.40, SQ.23, PM.17, BC.2 & FM.860

Fire went to ALL HANDS - units added: E.172, E.112, QNT.13, SQ.12 , BC.1 & TD.2

E-172 first fire took E-171's hydrant, E-172 crew went to fireground and assisted BC-2. Engine crew operated 2 hrs then returned to service.

E-172 second fire supplied Qnt.30 with water to due ladder ops, E-172 crew with to command and was assigned fire attack and overhaul. E-172 operated for 3 hrs then returned to service.

 

ENGINE 172 RESPONDS TO QA BOX 3-9

03/01/2006 - At 8:44am E-172 was dispatched from QA Station 4 (Centreville) to a MVC with 1 car overturned into a creek with 1 patient unconscious. First Arriving was Paramedic 100 reporting 1 pt out but was unable to advise if anyone else was still inside the vehicle. Chief 3 arrived on scene and took command, E-172 arrived soon after. One firefighter from E-172 donned a dry suit to search the vehicle for any other victims. Command requested Tk-2 to assist in searching the vehicle with two more firefighters in dry suits - no one else was found in the vehicle or surrounding area. E-172 was placed available at 10:08 am and continued back for our transfer to centreville. E-172 crew was Jason Roth (FADO), Randy Hopkins (Lieutenant) , Chris Trigg (Firefighter) , Craig Serrin ( Firefighter).

01/30/2006 - At 4:43pm E-172 was dispatched to Severn Road & Epping Forest for a reported dwelling fire in the 40-26 box. PM-39 arrived on scene first reporting a two story dwelling with heavy fire through the roof. Command advised all units to assume a defensive operation. E-172 laid 800 ft of 3 1/2 inch from E-35 to the community beach to set-up drafting operations. C-40 had water supply command. Units cleared the scene at 9pm. Units dispatched:   E.32, E.172, E.35, E.191, TW.40, TK.23, SQ.38, TA.35, TA.3, PM.39 BC.3, C.40, U.3, FM.864, K9-1, FM.867 & FM.865   E.172 CREW: J. Rollhauser (FADO) , R. Hopkins ( Lieutenant) , C. Trigg (Firefighter).

 

AVFD responds to tanker accident

10/02/2005 - At 10:45am multiple units were dispatched to a gasoline tanker accident on the ramp to Route 50 Eastbound (box area 17-80). The tanker truck was carrying roughly 8.000 gallons of gasoline at the time of the accident and lost 2,000 gallons due to a ruptured compartment. The driver was flown to shock trauma and units remained on location for several hours to assist with clean-up, evacuations and the overall safety of the accident scene. Engine 172 and Utility 17 were apart of the initial response.
